Elden Ring
Elden Ring is a freakin’ legend, and its boss fights are the heart-pounding core that make you wanna scream or smash your controller in victory. From scrubs you can clown on to absolute demons that haunt your dreams, the Lands Between throw some wild challenges at you. As a gamer who’s eaten more “You Died” screens than I’d like to admit, I’m ranking the 10 major bosses from easiest to hardest based on their moves, vibes, and how many times they made me rage quit. Grab your flask, summon your spirit ash, and let’s dive into the epic battles that make this game a GOAT. Spoilers for boss names ahead—don’t say I didn’t warn ya!
1. Godrick the Grafted: The Warm-Up Champ
First up is Godrick, Stormveil Castle’s big bad. He’s got a fancy axe, some wind tricks, and a creepy dragon arm in phase two, but let’s be real—he’s the tutorial boss for newbies. His swings are slow, like he’s telegraphing every move with a neon sign. Roll into him, smack away, and he’s toast. I took him down in three tries with a +4 longsword and a bleed build—felt like bullying a low-level mob. Summon Nepheli Loux to tank, and it’s a cakewalk. Godrick’s your gateway to the pain ahead, but he’s a breeze compared to the rest.
2. Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon: Magic Puzzle Pushover
Rennala in Raya Lucaria’s got a dreamy vibe, but she’s more style than substance. Phase one’s a gimmick—whack her creepy minions to drop her shield, then go ham. Phase two’s a sparkly magic duel with slow spells and summons like wolves or a troll. Dodge her big laser, circle close, and spam attacks. I got her in four tries with a +6 katana, mostly ‘cause I was distracted by the pretty visuals. Magic resist helps, but she’s not breaking your spirit. It’s like clearing a side quest with extra flair.
3. Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy: Snake-Slaying Cheat Code
Rykard, the Volcano Manor snake god, looks like a final boss, but he’s a gimmick fight done right. You grab the Serpent-Hunter spear, which hits like a truck, and go to town. Phase one’s just dodging lava pools; phase two adds a fiery skull storm, but it’s more cinematic than deadly. I smoked him in two tries, no upgrades, just spamming the spear’s ash of war. Feels like using a debug menu—fun but not sweaty. Skip the spear for a real challenge, but why stress? Rykard’s a loot pinata.
4. Starscourge Radahn: Epic War, Easy Cheese
Radahn’s Caelid showdown is wild—a massive battlefield, NPCs charging, and a meteor-riding giant. Sounds brutal, but he’s got holes. His arrows and gravity slams hit hard, but you can hide behind dunes and summon a squad of NPCs to tank. Ride Torrent, kite him, and chip with bleed or magic. Phase two’s meteor crash is dodgeable if you sprint. Took me six tries ‘cause I got cocky, but Scarlet Rot cheese made it a joke. It’s like a raid boss you can outsmart with basic strats.
5. Morgott, the Omen King: Sneaky Skill Check
Morgott in Leyndell steps up the heat. This dude’s fast, mixing sword combos with holy spears and bleed pools. He’s like Godrick’s pro cousin, punishing greedy swings with quick stabs. Phase two adds explosions and a cursed sword slam that wrecked me. Took eight tries with a +15 claymore—his mix-ups were tricky, and that bleed got me once. Stay patient, roll inward, and punish his big moves. Black Knife Tiche’s spirit ash distracts him like a charm. Morgott’s tough but fair.
Been thinking a lot of about franchises that don't compromise on their core foundations to grow their audiences. One of the few examples I can think of is Elden Ring – an incredible game that kept true to it's nature. Are there even any others?⁉️ pic.twitter.com/maYEsab0bh

6. Fire Giant: Big Dude, Bigger Grind
The Fire Giant at the Forge of the Giants is a beefy boy with a health bar that won’t quit. Phase one’s a slog—ride Torrent, dodge boulders, and hack his weak ankle. Phase two’s a fiery nightmare with orbs and volcano blasts that’ll one-shot you. Took me 12 tries; his roll attack squashed me, and those AOEs were relentless. A +22 greatsword and Alexander’s summon saved me, but it’s a marathon. Stay under him, dodge outward, and brace for pain—this giant’s a tank with attitude.
7. Mohg, Lord of Blood: Bleed Lord’s Brutal Dance
Mohg in Mohgwyn Palace is where things get spicy. His bloodflame slashes and spear thrusts are nasty, and his “Nihil” ritual drains your HP three times unless you’ve got the Purifying Crystal Tear. Those bleed pools are a death trap, and phase two’s dive-bombs are chaos. I died 10 times before a +20 Rivers of Blood katana and Mimic Tear clutched it. Stack bleed resist, hit hard during his ritual, and don’t panic. Mohg’s a beast, but prep makes him manageable.
8. Dragonlord Placidusax: Lightning-Fueled Terror
Placidusax, the two-headed dragon in Farum Azula, is a cinematic nightmare. Lightning claws, laser beams, and teleporting dive-bombs keep you guessing. Phase two’s cloud vanish and nuke attack wiped me 15 times—timing those dodges was brutal. A +25 Moonveil katana and Lhutel’s ash finally did it, baiting his big swings for openings. Stack lightning resist and stay aggressive, but those teleports demand pixel-perfect rolls. He’s a dragon boss done right epic and unforgiving.
9. Malenie, Blade of Miquella: The Rage-Inducing Goddess
Malenie in Elphael is the stuff of gamer PTSD. Her Waterfowl Dance—a flurry of slashes—is a death sentence if you miss a dodge. She heals on every hit, even blocks, so one slip and you’re done. Phase two’s scarlet rot blooms and clone attacks are pure chaos. Took me 20 tries with a +25 bleed build and Tiche; that dance still haunts me. Panic-roll away from her flurry, punish staggers, and pray. Malenie’s fair but relentless—your ultimate skill check.
10. Elden Beast: The Soul-Crushing Final Marathon
Elden Beast, the final boss, is my personal nightmare. After Radagon’s holy combos (already a fight), this cosmic whale swims around a huge arena, spamming magic orbs, sword swings, and a star shower that tracks you like a heat-seeking missile. Its 20,000 HP and constant kiting make it a slog. Took 25 tries over two days with a +25 great sword and Mimic Tear—those beams and grab attack were BS. Holy resist helps, but it’s a grind. Stay close, dodge the rings, and brace for a long haul—this beast broke me.
